swarbles.

a mostly goodhearted twentynine year old lady who lives in a land where it's winter half the year. starlings nest in the soffit along the side of my house and mourning doves roost under the roof above of my door stoop. i fall in love all the time.

sometimes i sing.
sometimes i make things.

these are some little felty things i have made.  from left to right, a little pumpkin (it has a stem but you can’t see it), a little ghosty fellow, and a little musical acorn.  little things.

metronome love patch success.

would people buy these things if i made a bunch and sold them online?  i mean, this is the internet, so probably, right?  people love metronomes and the music tapes and i could even do a man ray version if i were so inclined, which i may be.

felted metronome love patch.  the little white bit with the red tick marks on it is a little pinkish, since i first tried to draw them on with an extra fine red sharpie, not realizing that drawing on felt is a lot different than drawing on a cotton t shirt.  the tick marks are now sewed on with embroidery floss.  other than the pinkish bits, and that the top brown line is too thick and that it is still pretty fuzzy (i think this will solve itself once it’s gone through the wash a few times), i’m really happy with it.  i’m not sure what shirt/sweater/sweatshirt it will emblazon.  i will probably be making more, because i can and will probably want to put them on numerous things.

obvious inspiration is obvious, but also i wrote a poem during national poetry writing month 2010 that ended with the line “you are more like a metronome than a heart,” although that was also obviously inspired by the obvious, so alright.

the forecast the day before my birthday is way better than the forecast on my birthday.  all i want for my birthday is.

this is a barometric damper that my father let me take from work a few years ago because i wanted to turn it into a crown.  i have a tendency to forget about it (which is silly because it’s right next to me on my desk).  it needs more stickers.

swarbles:

it’s done!  it’s not really hanging right since it’s not lying flush against the wall, but it works.

these photos are not very good.  i make no apologies.  it gets real dark in here at night and i have to flash things in order to get decent photos in the sleeping corner.

sometimes the acorn closest to my head gets stuck up under the ribbon.  and the clapping hands’ hands get tangled in the invisible threads or ribbon all the time.  i can’t sleep at night if these things are not hanging correctly.

i am surprised that this is still intact and none of the cats have torn any of these things off the ribbon (yet).  pepper always looks at it longingly and will sometimes bat at them, but usually if the fan isn’t on, they’re pretty disinterested.

i finished this last night.  it’s too long to be a bracelet, but just the right length to be an anklet.
